Mediation
Mediation is a conflict resolution method in which an independent and impartial mediator helps the parties find a solution to a dispute through constructive dialogue. The aim of the process is not for one side to win or lose, but for the participants to work together to develop a solution that is acceptable to everyone involved.
Mediation can be particularly effective in situations where communication has broken down, long-term tension has developed between the parties, or joint decision-making has become difficult.
How does mediation work?
During mediation, the parties discuss the background of the conflict, the key issues involved, and possible solutions in the presence of a mediator. The role of the mediator is to guide the conversation and ensure that both parties have the opportunity to express their perspectives.
During the process:
- the main points of the conflict are clarified,
- the parties gain insight into each other’s perspectives,
- underlying interests and needs are explored,
- possible solutions are discussed together.
Mediation is a confidential process aimed at creating constructive dialogue and reaching a mutually acceptable agreement.
In what situations can mediation be helpful?
Mediation can provide support, for example, in:
- relationship or family conflicts,
- discussions related to separation or divorce,
- workplace disagreements,
- business or partnership disputes,
- resolving communication breakdowns.
Mediation does not make decisions on behalf of the parties. Instead, it supports them in developing their own agreement through dialogue and cooperation.
